Divine Appointment: How God Answered Prayers Through Meeting Samuel

September 03, 20252 min read

What if the person you meet today is the one someone else has been praying for?

Yesterday, I couldn’t shake the thought that our encounter with a 14-year-old boy named Samuel might have been God’s answer to someone’s heartfelt prayers. Maybe his parents. Maybe his grandparents. I couldn’t help but wonder if we were stepping into their answered prayer.

Because on the very sidewalks of Old Colorado City, God brought Samuel across our path. I believe there are no accidents in His kingdom. Amen?

It was his birthday, and he was open to talking with us. As the conversation unfolded, he shared that he had already accepted Jesus into his life. He told us he’s even thought about getting baptized, and we encouraged him that if he has truly put his faith in Christ, that’s a great next step.

I handed him a gospel bracelet with five colors that tell the story of salvation. His eyes lit up, and he slipped it on right away. I told him this bracelet wasn’t just for him. It’s also something he can use to share Jesus with his friends.

In that moment, I sensed the Lord nudging me to go deeper. At our church, we’ve learned the power of speaking a blessing—looking someone in the eyes and declaring God’s truth over them.

So I said, “Samuel, God loves you. He sees you. And He has given you gifts to impact others.”

He looked up with shy eyes, and even though it wasn’t easy for him to make eye contact, I sensed the Holy Spirit resting on that moment. Before we said goodbye, he let me give him a hug.

Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few” (Luke 10:2). God often uses simple steps of obedience like sharing a tract, offering a bracelet, speaking a blessing. We may never see the full impact, but He is always at work.

We are praying for Samuel. He is already connected with a local church, and so we pray he gets rooted there, takes the step of baptism, and that God empowers him to boldly share his faith with his friends and family.

How have you seen God answer one of your prayers through a stranger and/or a divine appointment? Share in the comments because I’d love to hear your stories. They increase my faith!
